Condominiums in Cologne – with the Rhine River right outside the Door

In Cologne-Niehl, in the eastern part of the borough of Nippes, lies this residential complex of condominiums, either occupied by good tenants for buy-to-let investors or vacant for owner-occupancy. The residential buildings are located on a quiet dead-end road branching off Schlenderhaner Strasse just a few hundred metres from the Rhine bank and Niehl port. Surrounded by meadow lands and old-growth trees, the blocks radiate a quiet and green atmosphere.

The immediate vicinity is dominated by residential buildings of similar types, most of which line side-streets in the same manner. It is a quiet and peaceful area to live in without being cuff off from urban life. There are various supermarkets and smaller stores in the neighbourhood that cover the day-to-day needs. If you feel like going downtown or leaving the city for the countryside, there are tram, bus and underground stops within walking distance.

Quiet Apartments with Balconies and a Green View – Buying Condominiums in Cologne

The well-appointed houses from 1958 line both sides of the narrow street. Located in one of the two three-storey buildings are 2-bedroom flats with convenient floor plans on footprints of around 47 square metres, the units on the upper floors having two balconies each. Flats on the ground floor have both a balcony and access to a small garden section. The houses at Schlenderhaner Strasse 31 to 35 across the street divide into 3-bedroom flats of around 67 square metres. Here, too, the upstairs flats on the first and second floor come with balconies that are great for taking it easy in a quiet neighbourhood. The ground floor units here have access to a small garden section as well.

Both the houses and the flats are in good repair. Amenities include bright kitchens, tub-equipped bathrooms and a dedicated share of the basement. In addition, there are a store room and a laundry and clothes-drying room for shared use.

In the course of 2019, the façade will be cleaned and repainted, which will brighten up the houses further. At the same time, the mail box systems, doorbell plates and stairs in four entranceways will be renewed. The balconies at the houses Schlenderhaner Strasse 12 to 29 will be fitted with new parapets and panels that match the present architectural style. Moreover, a visually engaging waste bin area is to be installed along the frontage. The mail box system and door entry panels will also be replaced.

Over the years, a stable neighbourhood of residents has established itself in Cologne-Niehl who appreciate a quiet ambience without missing out on the vibrant urban bustle of the nearby inner city. The area is particularly popular among families, who have increasingly moved here lately because of the green spaces and parks that traverse the quarter and add fresh vibrancy to the streetscape.
